I recently moved to Ohio from my hometown of Colorado Springs, CO to begin my career as a microbiologist for Kraft Heinz.
Raised in Colorado, an active lifestyle has always been a part of who I am; hiking, biking, snowboarding, and cross country skiing are my favorite things to do.
Additionally, I have been an athlete for the majority of my life. In high school, I was a three- sport letter winner in softball, basketball, and soccer- and continued to play collegiate softball and soccer at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA.
Training for collegiate soccer throughout the last four summers is where I discovered my love for running. I found, running was not only a great way to get myself in soccer shape, but also the best mental therapy. I decided to run a half marathon the summer before my senior year of college (August 2016), and after running competitively I learned I really like to run competitively and improve my personal records.
Not knowing much about how to improve my PRs, and being new to the area I began looking for running teams I could join- to meet new people with similar interests as me and a group that would be willing to provide feedback to me on how to improve as an athlete and to good races in the area. As well as, continuing to be a part of a team and to sustain living a healthy, active lifestyle.
My goals for 2018 are to run a 1:45:00 half marathon, compete in a full marathon, and to continue to grow as a new runner. I am planning on running the Downhill at Dawn half marathon in Asheville, NC, the Towpath Marathon, and several shorter races throughout the year.
Half Marathon: 1:51:50 (August 13, 2016; Georgetown to Idaho Springs Half Marathon)
