Croom 50 Mile Mountain Bike Ride

The Croom 50 is a classic off-road ride that I use as a barometer on my fitness each year.

Race morning brought cool temps (50’s with light rain ).  We drove to the trail (we normally ride from my house 2 miles away) The rain cleared just as the event started.  Temps were perfect with overcast skies.  This year they added in some cool hiking trails along the river, which added some great scenery with an old school mountain bike trail feel.

I pushed it hard all day and finished in just over 4 hours with a 10.7 mph average speed which is same as last year!

I had several friends join in this year (Randy, Rick & Juan). Everyone rode great and had an awesome time.   The aide stations had great volunteers and were well stocked.

Post ride had beer from a local brewery and catered food from one of Brooksville’s best restaurants called Papa Joe’s.

A great event and an awesome day.  I’m so fortunate to be in Florida!
