Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

I ran the Franksgiving Day 5K in Canton yesterday and ran into teammate Brittany Kiehl in the after race hot dog line! This race was a lot bigger than I expected with over 1,000 runners and walkers of all ages!! It was very well organized and had raffles, hot dogs, chips, and sodas or a beer at the finish line! The award ceremony was fun as well with a bonus prize if your team (ketchup, mustard, or onion) averaged the fastest finishing time was granted a bonus sticker prize! I finished at a time of 29:01 and a pace of 9:21! I finished 13th out of 65 in my age group and 200 overall which I’m pretty happy with! It was a fun race and I saw tons of familiar friendly race friends there that I enjoyed spending the morning with!

Race Recap by Nancy Wardell:

I ran the Ruck Run 5k in Canton today and loved every minute of it in the rain and chilly weather!! This race was a huge tribute to our veterans and I felt honored to be running with so many of them, some even in weighted vests or ruck sacks! The course definitely had elevation changes, but there were tons of volunteers at each turn cheering you on like crazy! Great award ceremony in the fire department where you could warm up and their sponsors were set up giving away tons of free goodies!! Loved the hot chocolate and beautiful medals too! I finished with a time of 30:50 and pace of 9:56 and earned first in my age group!!! I was very excited!! Can’t wait to do this one again next year!

Race Recap By Terri Bednar:

I am officially an ultramarathoner!! My First 50K is in the books! I ran Loop the Lake in Munroe Falls. they offer a 50K relay, a 25K, a 50K and a 6 hour option. Such a fun race with tents set up to look like Woodstock and all the snacks you would ever want! Thanks to Stephanie Orwick for crewing me and for my awesome coach Christine Churpek! There is a cheer section every 1.3 miles and I introduced myself to other cheer sections so I think I had like 4 along the loop . The race was very well organized, packet pickup was a cinch; bathrooms right by the start/finish and an easy timing mat with screen so you could see how many laps you completed. This was my third time doing this race but first time doing the 50k. I had a blast AND I took home the award for female Masters and won $50!!! My one and ONLY complaint about this race is that everyone gets the same medal/no differentiation between 25K, 50K, 6 hour or relay. I was sad to learn that this was the last year for this race. I sure hope they bring it back, it is a blast!

Race Recap By Veronica Neubert:

Yesterday, I completed my first 25K. Thanks to Terri Bednar’s encouragement and to my Team ER for race support!
The weather was perfect and I felt good for most of the laps. Finishing 25th overall and 9th female, I can only imagine what running on good knees could have felt like? Nevertheless, I am proud of myself.

Race Recap By Renee Buckus:

LOOP THE LAKE 25K! Perfect temps, high energy, speedy runners and strong support from friends and family! Nearly 16 miles of pure joy with a finish line that represented not only the end of this race but my 2025 races in total. What a season! A mega thank you to PLX Running Club and Nicole for putting on an incredible event. I’m so lucky to know y’all and thankful I got to be a part of this.

VIRTUAL Canal Tavern of Zoar 5K
I love this annual 5K to benefit our TuscParks!
Super organized on flat, fast Towpath with one short but steep hill at the finish
Point to point you can park at the finish and take a bus to the start or option 2… park at the start and walk / run 3.1 back after the finish!!!!
Nice swag and best after party with German food, awards and Lockport beer!
Mother Nature was feeling spicy so our official race was cancelled but the RD held the party for us anyway and passed out the swag.
My BFF and I picked a beautiful fall evening for our make up run and found the biggest wooly bear caterpillar EVER

Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:

On Saturday, I completed the Bobcat Trail Marathon, a challenging yet rewarding trail running experience. The course had a total elevation gain of 3,478 feet, consisting mainly of single-track trails with some road sections. The weather was favorable, and the course was well-marked for easy navigation. There was ample parking available, and the aid stations were well-stocked with essential items to maintain runner hydration and provide snacks. Congratulations to all finishers, and commendation to Western Reserve Racing for organizing a successful event.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

Bobcat Marathon & Half Marathon
Good communication, easy directions, and ample free parking near the start / finish.
This race is very remote and WIFI is sketchy!
Pro Tip – take some Dramamine and review your directions in advance!
Organized packet pick up.
Point to point race. Marathon starts / finishes at the lodge with a one way loop around the lake
Half starts at the marina and runs to the lodge with a free shuttle to take you back to your car
Course is well marked mostly single track trail with several creek crossings, all the rocks & roots, and So. Many. Hills!
Scenic fall foliage and lake views for miles – absolutely beautiful!
2 well stocked / spaced aid stations on course and one at the start / finish.
Indoor restrooms at both the lodge and marina
Nice Bobcat themed tee and matching finishers medal for all runners
Awards for overall and age group winners!
I worked super hard and could not be happier with my 2nd place age group finish!
I would definitely do this one again!

Race Recap By Lynett McClay:

It was a beautiful day to run a 1/2 marathon. The weather was perfect for an early morning run. This race was one of the toughest races I ever ran. This race consist of single track Trail, some road, wooden bridges ( that were slick from the rain the day before), rocks and roots and some mud. Packet pick was easy and had great directions. Plenty of parking for runners and family members to cheer their runners on. Indoor plumbing both at the marathon start and half marathon start. Half marathons started at Burr Oak Marina while marathon runners started at the Burr Oak Lodge. Aid stations were plentiful for every runners needs. The volunteers were very helpful ( even when I fell at the most buddies place of the whole race) . Even though my time was slower than last I managed to get 3rd in my age group. I will definitely run this race again!

2.2 Mile Run / Walk

Brittany Kiehl

Finish Time:  28:12

Overall Place:  56th Place / 172

Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

On any given day approximately 22 veterans commit suicide. This race brings awareness to veteran suicide prevention. They had a 22K, 11K, and 2.2 mile option as well as ruck categories. This year’s represented military branch was the U.S. Coast Guard which was reflected in the medal. Afterwards you could warm up inside the Foundry Restaurant & Event Center, where they had lots of hot appetizers and burgers from the Smash Burger food truck.
I felt so humbled running alongside so many veterans. Some were carrying flags, others were rucking and some ran in memory of those they lost. This race provided us an opportunity to teach our boys about showing gratitude and respect to those who sacrificed so much to keep our country safe. I’m so grateful for their bravery.
