Race Recap By George McFall:

A Christmas Eve tradition continues… I ran the Frosty 5 mile race this morning in Hudson. It was colder than expected which caused whatever moisture that was on the roads to freeze so there was ice on most of the course. I was reevaluating my approach then decided to just get after it but try to not take a spill. Mission accomplished! There was a large turnout—over 800 participants. Santa was at the start and finish. The best part about doing this race is seeing so many familiar faces and being able to catch up with some of them. Oh, and the 1,2, 3 cookies after the race were delicious. I felt I earned them after running so well. I placed 2nd in my age group and 47th overall. I missed out on 1st by 2 seconds.

Race Recap By Steve Zenar:

I had a wonderful time at the Frosty 5 Miler in Hudson, OH. This race has become an annual tradition for me and I always enjoy my time burning a few calories before settling in for a little Christmas celebrating with Family.  It was great to see so many Team ER teammates at the race this year! I placed 12th of 38 in my age group and personally had a great run setting several PR’s along the course (the only obstacle this year was slippery road due to a bit of black ice– fortunately no falling for me.
Wishing everyone on a Safe, Happy, and Healthy Holiday season & a Happy New Year!
See you all out on a course in 2026!
Race Recap By Lisa Keane:
Nothing like kicking off your Christmas holiday w/ a quick 5 mile run surrounded by over 800 of your closest running buddies! Start / finish located in Hudson square was absolutely beautiful with all the lights & decorations, music & cookies! Only thing missing was the snow.
Roads were ice covered so it did slow everyone a bit but I was happy with my “cautious” pace and placed 5/43 in my age group!
I can see this as a new holiday tradition!
Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:
he race takes place on Christmas Eve every year. This was my fourth time participating and is a fun tradition. My family did the one mile race and it was very family friendly. However, the roads were quite slick with the black ice. At the finish line, Santa was giving high fives. There was hot cocoa, cookies and all kinds of snacks.
All runners received a wooden medal that doubles as an ornament. If you wanted you could choose to pay extra to receive a short sleeve tri blend tee (red or green) or a white tech tee with the race logo. Overall, a fun experience and would highly recommend this one!

Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

Yesterday, I made a very last minute decision to sign up for this race. (I signed up a couple hours before start time.) Chris was working in NY and the boys were getting stir crazy. So I was looking for something fun to fill the last part of our day.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect! The boys loved looking at all the lights. I am not sure if there is a way the course could be reversed. I think it would have been helpful to do the back half first while there is still a little daylight. Then come up through all the Christmas lights at the end so you can actually see. The reverse direction could have also helped the bottleneck right at the start when you cross the bridge. This was a fun festive 5K and I would do it next year.

I completed the Spirit of the Season 5k in Canton this morning with teammate Kelli Tomblin!! Thanks for getting our pictures together! This race was a pretty cold one, but the course was simple enough with an out and back from the Monument! I finished at a total time of 29:14 giving me a pace of 9:25 and 5th in my age group. Loved the warm hat that I definitely used this morning and the medal that turns into an ornament for your Christmas tree! They also had some cookies and hot chocolate at the finish line to warm the runners up afterwards!

Race Recap By Kelli Tomblin:

Spirit Of The Season 5K race was fun & festive I had fun with both my Bolivar Run Club friends & my Team ER friend Nancy Wardell. Everything seemed organized. Turns were well marked. We received nice, thick & warm knit hats. At the finish we all received a medal that can also be a Christmas ornament, hot chocolate & a variety of cookies to choose from to enjoy. Glad my boom nutrition gel got me through another race successfully!

Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:

On December 6th and 7th, I participated in the Bigfoot 50k on Saturday, followed by the Bigfoot 10 mile on Sunday. The 50k course consisted of three ten-mile loops, while Sunday’s event featured a single 10-mile loop. Temperatures were somewhat cold on both days. Plenty of parking was available near the start and finish lines. The course was well-marked, with two aid stations that were well-stocked. The trail became increasingly muddy during the third loop, and conditions were similarly muddy on Sunday. Congratulations to all participants who completed the events.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

Bigfoot 10 Miler – Saturday Edition
Love this race and all of the chaos it brings!
This is the first trail race that I ever ran and the one that really changed my running journey.
10 mile loop – choose 1,2, or 3 loops.
Well marked trail through beautiful Salt Fork State Park.
Mostly single track with all the rocks and roots and plenty of elevation.
December in Ohio can bring all the elements. I have run this race through sunshine and 60’s, high wind warnings, rain, sleet, and snow. Often times the weather changes up mid race! NOT TO MENTION THE MUD….
This year we were blessed with near perfect conditions allowing me to run the majority of the race and without having my shoes sucked off my feet!
Lots of great runners out today and very happy with my 3rd place age group!
I heard rumors of a Bigfoot sighting but did not witness it myself so I will try again tomorrow!
Bigfoot 10 Miler – Sunday edition
I took advantage of the BOGO sale and signed up for a 2nd chance to spot Bigfoot!
First time running the Sunday race and it is a completely different vibe from Saturday
10 mile distance is the only option with less than 100 runners today.
High trail traffic yesterday + warmer temperatures today = MORE MUD!
I teamed up with my BFF and we had the best time laughing, slip sliding, and enjoying the views!
To top it all off, we were both pleasantly surprised to place 3rd in our respective age groups!
And yes, Bigfoot remains Hide and Seek Champion 2025
Race Recap By Lynett McClay:
Sunday Bigfoot 10 miler in Salt Fork is mostly single track , hills and mud. I have done this race and few times and the weather was a little chilly but you warmed up quickly when climbing the hills and trying not to slide in the mud. The scenery was beautiful with the snow on the ground and around Salt Fork lake. There was plenty of parking for everyone. Packet pick with easy directions and indoor restrooms. Everycrunner received a medal and a soft tee or choose not to have the medal for $5 less. The best part of this race this year is that I got to run with my bestie and placed 3rd in my age group.

I ran the Zoar Merry Miles 5K in Zoar this morning and it was a rough one! The cold and change in elevation got this best of me and added ice and snow might the run very tricky. The turns were clearly marked though and a nice area was provided inside to warm up for the award ceremony with post race snacks and soups! I finished with a time of 30:52 and pace of 9:56 which landed me 6th out of 17 in my age group. Love the long sleeve shirt and wooden star finisher medal too!

Race Recap By Steve Zenar:

I had a wonderful (but cold) run this morning at the Kent Turkey Trot at Fred Fuller Park. My goal today was to settle in around an 8min / mile pace which I was happy to achieve! This put me 5th / 33 in my age group.
A Special thanks to Scott for taking a nice photo for me to make my post official . (Sorry to the others that I missed the post race team photo – everyone at home wanted coffee and for me to hurry back for our annual watching of the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade). Wishing you all a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable remainder of the day – Gobble Gobble!

Race Recap By Laura Fairfax:

You gotta love a good turkey trot! My son Landon placed 3rd in his age group in 23rd place overall out of 1000 runners! I placed 4th in my age group and now I’m ready for Turkey!

Race Recap By Gretchen Snyder:

On Thanksgiving morning, The Tree City Turkey Trot 5k was sold out at over 1,000 runners. I volunteered at early morning packet pick up- the line wait time was minimal and the Race Day Check-in app worked really well. I much prefer this method as opposed to the old method of using a paper list.
The start of the race was congested, and I was unable to get out as fast as I’d hoped- too many people funneling down to one small trail led to tripping and flying elbows. After about a half mile, people were spread out and the trail was more comfortably navigated.
Perhaps next year, we could have a timing strip at both the beginning and end of the race, so that people can stagger-start to avoid congestion.
