This event was a non timed fun run event.

Event Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

When you go to the playground and find out they are doing a race. It’s a sign you have to do it, right? Also, super proud mom moment, Andrew ran almost the entire time. He loved jumping over all the arrows and having me read all the words to him.

Race Recap By Josh Keane:

Happy Easter Team ER! We had a lot of fun at the 2025 Bunny Run 5K yesterday. This was a flat, fast 5K benefitting the Tuscarawas County Public Library System. This was a small race and the course could have been marked better but was a great run in New Philadelphia. I ran pretty well in spite of my recent struggles with my right leg. I ended up being 11th out of 73 and 5th male out of 23. We Will definitely run this one again.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

The Bunny Run 5K is a small local 5K to support the library and its summer reading program!
This race has no online registration so you can go to the main library to register in person ahead of time or come early for same day sign up.
Ample, free parking at the library giving runners access to indoor staging / restrooms.
Gun start- chip finish on a flat, fast road course.
There were some volunteers along the route however it was not marked and a little confusing at times. I’m still not sure if I ran the correct route but the distance was about right.
One water station on course and water / granola snacks at the finish
I love the Easter themed soft cotton short sleeve tees. No finisher medals but I have enough and am happy to have more $$$ go to the library!
Overall awards for top 3 male / female and they had children / adult categories instead of age group awards.
Rumor has it that this is an annual spring event with a different theme each year. I will definitely sign up again for a great cause!

Race Recap By Kelli Tomblin:

The Bunny Run 5k in New Philadelphia was a nice race. You receive a  t-shirt at registration. Medals are awarded for overall winners only. Plenty of bottled water & a variety of granola bars. Good signs to know where to go & people at corners cheering you on and telling you where to turn. Small but fun race.

14′ And Under 8.5 Mile Kayak Race

Finish Time:  1:28:52

Overall Place:  6th Place / 79

Division Place:  1st Place / 22

Race Recap By Scott Orlando:

It was a busy river this morning with 354 paddlers taking on the Madhatters Canoe And Kayak Race. The Grand River was low and the flow was slow making for some challenging conditions. The start was held about 25 minutes while a nasty storm cell passed through the area. I paddled my Liquidlogic Kayaks Intuit 13.5 in the 14’ and under class. To borrow a phrase from NASCAR “Rubbing Is Racing was a theme today. The rain, wind, and murky water made reading the river difficult. Rocks and shallow water were popping up everywhere. I scraped more than a few rocks.
The 8.5 miles of the Grand River course always impresses with stunning scenery of rocky cliffs high above the banks. I even managed to get a close look at two adult bald eagles.  The race concludes with paddlers exiting their boats, running through the finish shoot, across the timing mats, and the ringing of a bell.  Unfortunately the button snap on my spray skirt would not release and I lost close to a full minute of time trying to exit my kayak.  That mistake probably cost me 2 spots in the overall standings but did not impact the standing in my age division.
I finished in a time of 1:28:52 which was good enough for 6th place overall for the 14’ and under race and 1st place in my age division.
There was no awards ceremony this year so all awards will be picked up or mailed to winners.
All racers received custom finisher medals and well designed t-shirts.
Thank you to Lake Metroparks for putting on another great race and to all the volunteers and safety crews out on the water.

Race Recap By Steve Zenar:

I had a fun but wet run this morning at the Race for the Parks 10K in Hudson, OH. This race is one of my annual favorites as its close to home but typically I only do the 5K. This year I have been feeling good and went for the 10K version. As expected it was a nice challenge with just enough distance and some punchy hills to get a great longer run mid-month. The race was well organized and all went smoothly – Thank you to Brittany Kiehl for being one of the volunteers.
I ended with a time of 58:17 and placed 3rd in my age group.
Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:
They had you park across the street in the high school baseball parking lot. It is about a 5 minute walk to the park. I volunteered first for packet pickup/ organized shirts. Then I ran the 5K. The course had a little bit of everything – gravel, trail, and pavement. It went through Hudson Springs Park and a nearby neighborhood. There were some steep hills but overall a fun course. The 10K was the 5K loop twice. You recieved a soft, charcoal colored shirt and a wooden medal. There was plenty of post race snacks and coffee. Since you parked across the street, you received your swag after the race. There was a huge line to pick up shirts.
