Event Recap By Josh Keane:

Holy ice balls!! What a challenge. The Road Apple Roubaix is an event that we love because it is so much fun. Deep down in side though, each year it is such a tough event with a well deserved reward at the end. Yes, this year it was around 20 degrees with 10-20 mph winds and on one downhill stretch I was going about 30 mph! Wearing just shorts may not have been the right call on this one because almost immediately my legs did not want to push anything up and down the hills! Trying to keep our fingers warm was a little tough but we kept pushing forward and eventually finished 25.88 miles total and about 1,700 ft of elevation gain. Packet pick up was a breeze indoors. Swag is awesome and my favorite after braving the cold is getting back inside for chili and beer!! A lot of great activities afterwards as well and a great crowd of people to enjoy it with. Would not change a thing about this event and will certainly be participating again.

Event Recap By Lisa Keane:

The Road Apple Roubaix is a unique event bringing together novice bikers (like myself) with elite athletes and everyone in between!
The RDs make it clear that this is an event and not a race. However, with spring right around the corner so many elite bikers come out to compete in preparation for the upcoming race season.
Choose from the 25 mile or 50 mile distance and enjoy scenic back road views. While this might sound like a relaxing morning ride, don’t be deceived! Be prepared for gravel, mud, and ice as you dodge potholes and Amish ROAD APPLES! The hills are no joke! I chose the 25 mile option and logged almost 1700” of elevation gain.
The event is held late winter / early spring in Ohio so the weather can be unpredictable. This year was especially brutal with temps in the low 20s to start and they continued to drop to the mid teens by the time I crossed the finish line!
Easy directions and plenty of close / free parking
Organized and easy indoor packet pick up / staging / restrooms
Well marked course on gravel / paved roads.
Roads are not closed and traffic can be traveling fast at times.
Two well stocked aid stations plus one beer / water station.
Amazing after party with vegetarian or meat lovers chili, beer, giveaways, and raffles plus music and an MC hosting arm and leg wrestling contests.
All athletes get a fun SS tee and a pint glass.
