Race Recap By Ken Frankenbery:
It has been 2 years since my last triathlon so it was exciting to race a tri again! It was a warm 77 degree’s at 7 am , but wind was real issue. Waves on the ocean for the swim were the toughest I have ever had to deal with, but luckily it was a short swim. It was scary getting a face full of wave and having other people get knocked into you- it was like Jaws. I ended up 2nd in my age group. A guy from Florida who is a World Triathlon champion smoked me (and he is 68!) but I did beat him on the run. I ended up 35th overall out of 150 people so I did beat a lot of young guys. It’s encouraging to see so many fast older guys down here. There was a guy over 80 years old who finished just outside of top 100 so he beat 50 people! Also a 73 year old women was in top 100!
