Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:

This past Saturday, I took part in the Down and Dirty 5-mile and 10-mile event, selecting the 10-mile option, which entailed two loops. The course was exceptionally well-marked, aid stations were well-stocked, and parking was ample. Volunteers demonstrated exceptional dedication, and participants were offered a choice of swag items and a finisher medal. The overall and age-group winners received an engraved pin to attach to their medal; well done to all who completed the event. I achieved 12th place overall and 1st place in my age group.

Race Recap By Josh Keane:

The Down and Dirty 5 Mile & 10 Mile race was a great little five mile loop race. This is a beautiful rolling hill section of the park with a little bit of elevation but is very runnable. The course was definitely marked well and was easy to follow. Aid stations were great and volunteers were fantastic. This was certainly a fun race with my people. After getting a cold and being jet lagged from my Alaska trip, I did not have any hopes of over achieving, but somehow still pulled out 1st place in my age group. Team ER showed up and did great as always at this one. I am likely to do this race next year and will gladly recommend it to anyone.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

A new twist on an old race! The Down & Dirty 5 Miler.  They added a 10 mile option this year!
Great communication, easy directions, ample free parking, and organized packet pick up.
5 mile loop – choose 1 loop or 2 for your distance on this well marked trail race through beautiful CVNP!
The trail has some fairly technical areas and one long hill but overall I found it very runnable making for a faster trail race than I typically see. I felt great running today – much needed redemption from my last trail race!
One aid station on course and another at the start / finish with hydration and snacks for all athletes. I especially enjoyed my snow cone at the finish line!
Choice of swag and finisher medals. Overall and age group winners receive a nice pin for your ribbon. I passed 2 girls in the last half mile and was able to secure 3rd place in my age group. I look forward to doing this one again next year!

Race Recap By Lynett McClay:

The morning of the race was marked by stunning scenery, providing an ideal setting for a run through CVNP. Runners had the option to choose between a 5-mile (1 loop) or 10-mile (2 loops) course, with the 5-mile option being my preferred distance. The directions were clear and concise, and the course was well-marked. The single-track trail included a challenging long hill, rolling hills, and technical sections. Packet pickup and parking were effortless, with two conveniently located aid stations offering water, scratch, and snacks. Having previously participated in this race two years ago, I was thrilled to return and am already looking forward to next year’s event.
