Race Recap By Scott Orlando:

It was a hot and humid morning at the Raintree 5K in Green, Ohio with Team ER and North Water Brewing Run Club.
My goal for today’s race was simple, bring home an age group award apple pie. The course for this race includes golf course fairways, cart paths, and a section of road running. The course is scenic and a little slow with plenty of low incline rolling hills. A true cross country style running experience.

I went out a little slow trying to save my legs for the hills in the last mile. After the first mile I realized that I was most likely in the lead of my division. My strategy shifted from running fast to running fast enough to win my division. The race field spread out and no one was pushing my pace from the front or back so I settled into a comfortable pace. The strategy seemed to work and I won my division and an apple pie finishing 21st overall with a time of 23:32. I definitely don’t like finishing a 5K over 23:00 minutes but in the heat and humidity on a tough course I will take it.

All runners received full cotton T-shirts that featured a logo I designed. I liked the design of course but would prefer to see it on a white tech shirt or at least a tri blend shirt. There were snacks after the race and a few raffle prizes. I happened to win one which was a golf pass at Raintree.

It was really fun running with all of my Team ER and North Water Brewing Run Club friends who all received pies as well.
Thank you to Mickey Rzymek, Josh Ritchie, Summit Athletic Running Club, and all of the volunteers who helped put on a great event!

Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

I ran the Raintree 5k in Uniontown this morning with a crew of teammates from Team-ER! I’m glad we had a few clouds and really happy with the early start time at 7:30am! Congratulations to everyone and I hope you enjoy your delicious pies!! I finished with a total time of 25:05 with a pace of 8:05 which I’m super happy with! I placed first in my age group and 4th female overall!! Great day on the golf course

Race Recap By Laura Fairfax:

Great job, Team ER! Humid 5K, but happy to place 3rd in my division and win a pie!

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

I had the best time continuing this race tradition and kicking off our July 4th holiday with this unique & fun 5K!
Well marked course with some elevation & terrain changes to challenge you.
Start on the 10th hole and run through scenic Raintree golf course and local neighborhoods roads.
Fun after party with awards, door prizes, music, & snacks!
Very happy with my 1st place age group winning a whole Apple Pie and a giant Gatorade!
Congratulations to all of my Team ER teammates!
So many took home pies today!
Happy Independence Day!
