Jimmy Ruggles Races in 2012

Sorry it’s taken all season for a race report!  I must say I did some cool stuff.  Early spring started with a trip to NC for a little hill training with Jerry and a few other fine fellows prepping for the Mohican 100 mtn bike race in early June.  Race went fine used it more for a heavy training gig for the Triple bypass ride in Colorado. Anyone who hasn’t done it really should!  It’s a 120 miles with 12k elevation gain one day ride climbing three of the highest peaks in the great state. You do have the option to do it all backwards the following day.  Unfortunately I was sick on day two. That was another prep ride for my big event. The Leadville 100 mtn bike race.

Leadville was the hardest race I have ever done. Appx 15k feet of climbing starting at 10k elevation it was a true test of what I spent all year training for. I finished the race just over the 12 hour mark but still finished with a smile. This race is back on my calendar for next year. I finished my season this past weekend at Iceman a 30 mile mtn bike race in the lower U.P. of Michigan. I had a decent time of 2:30 finished middle of my age group. That’s all for now folks!!
