This morning I ran a 5k race called Max’s CDH Awareness. The parents who lost their son to this birth defect make this race happen every year. They had a decent turnout with about 250 runners for the 5k. They also have a race for kids, a lap around the track at Green high School, called Max’s mad dash. The weather was near perfect for a race–sunny and about 60 degrees. The race course was set up very nice with no question on where to go. They also had a vehicle leading the runners. The start and finish were at the same location with a 100m on the track! Very nice and fast! The course was mostly flat with the exception of the last mile-slow uphill about 400m. The times of everyone were a little slower than normal because it was 3.15 on most of our GPS’s. Hermes racing chip timed the event and results were right up.
The best part was the jumpy castles, dunk tank and kona cones for the kiddos! Spectator friendly too- my family got to see me at least 4 times to cheer me on! That was a plus! Top 3 overall received tons of nice Tupperware- gift wrapped. They also had tons of gifts to raffle off and an auction for many awesome gifts! Very nice race and I highly recommend participating in it.
