Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

I ran the Run for Hope Castle 5k in Alliance this beautiful morning! Found teammate Cleopatra Sirnic along the way too! This is a nice easy course that is clearly marked at every turn and even goes through Mount Union college! Tons of nice snacks and quick award ceremony at the end. I didn’t place today, but finished at a total time of 29:28 and with a pace of 9:28 which I’m still pleased with. I was 7th in my age group. Loved the castle and very upbeat environment at the race site!

Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:

I had a great time running the Leave No Trace Half Marathon on Saturday. The course was well-marked, the volunteers were fantastic, and the aid stations were well-organized. Parking was not a problem. Congratulations to all who finished. I finished first in my age group and 31st out of 149. This is an event I always enjoy.

Race Recap By Lynett McClay:

This race was held at Camp Manatoc in Peninsula. This course consist of single track, gravel road, grass, rolling hills and a couple of steep hills to climb with elevation of 1600′ ft and plenty of roots to trip on. Also this was a 2 loop course. Easy packet pick up the morning and plenty of parking and easy directions. The course was well marked. There were 2 aid stations with easy access and plenty of snacks for all of the runners needs. This course got me a little bit as I fell 2x hitting my head, bruised my left arm and pinky finger with also bruising to my right elbow and a few scrapes on my knees. Next I will come back and have revenge.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

Race 8/10 in the Dirty Trail Series meets the Endurance Series race 5/9! These two separate races are run an hour apart on the same course – sounds hectic but it works!
Great communication, organized packet pick up, easy directions, and ample free parking close to the start / finish.
Indoor restrooms / showers available for all runners
Chip timing on a well marked trail with plenty of rocks, roots, and elevation.
Mostly single track with some road and grassy fields mixed in. Stay alert for faster runners and announce yourself to pass when approaching slower runners.
Nicely spaced aid / water stations on course.
Choice of swag during sign up. I accidentally signed up for a duplicate item as a previous race and I schmoozed the race directors until they let me switch it out.
Fun finish line atmosphere with plenty of space for spectators to cheer you in, music, and food including hot dogs and snow cones.
Finisher medals for all runners and overall / age group awards in 5 year increments 3 deep.
Very happy with my 1st place age group win! Congratulations to all of the Team ER Minnehaha runners – everyone placed in their age groups and the race directors mentioned our team by name!

I ran the first time ever, RED S.H.O.E. 5K in Canton this morning! Such a beautiful morning and very well organized with clear signs at every turn. I really loved this race course, which goes up around the monument and has a nice run along the low elevation trails in the park. I was super excited to finish 3rd female overall! I finished at 28:13 and a pace of 9:05 which is the best I’ve had in years!!! Great little award ceremony and pretzels, bananas, and water at the finish line. I’m so thrilled!!

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

It’s Fall Y’all! (Or close enough ) I had the best time at this inaugural Oktoberfest themed 12K trail race!
Great communication, easy directions, organized packet pick up.
Ample free parking a short walk to the start / finish.
Mid week evening race left me with mixed feelings… Does not interfere with all of the other established weekend races but also, it’s a school night…. Personally, it didn’t bother me but I could see how it would be difficult for others.
Chip start / finish timing on a well marked trail through beautiful Bedford Reservation. Hike, ruck, or run this mildly technical trail with 2 water crossings, a handful of road crossings, and plenty of elevation.
Best after party of the year with Oktoberfest beer, brats, and pretzels. The live band was fantastic along with games, dancing, and giveaways.
Oktoberfest swag choice of socks or hat plus a pint glass
Overall and age group awards were 10 years deep and awarded to 1st place only.
Nice turn out and lots of strong runners left me pleasantly surprised by my 3rd place age group!
I would definitely do this one again!

Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

I completed the Kylie Rose 5k run this afternoon in Copley, Ohio. I enjoyed seeing Veronica Judith and Mickey Rzymek before and after the race! This race is very welcoming to everyone who wants to participate! Tons of family fun activities including bouncy houses, balloon animals, pizza and snacks, and much much more before and after the race! Congratulations to Veronica who placed second in her age group and thanks to Mickey who is always very welcoming to every event! It was great to visit both of them during this event! I finished at 29:59 with a pace of 9:39 and 6th in my age group, which is the best I’ve done at this event in a few years, so I’m pleased with it! Definitely recommend this race to my teammates and those with little ones!

Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

A local race that supports the Akron Children’s Hospital. There is both an in-person and virtual option. The Family Fun Run is a non-competitive one-mile run/walk. It is very family friendly. Throughout the duration of the 5K/ Fun Run, there are fun activities on the football field for children of all ages (bounce houses, face painting, snow cones, card making, Bags of Love stuffing, golf demo, etc.). Every participant recieves a soft shirt. It has a late afternoon start time so it was hot weather to race in.

I had the best time completing this Bigfoot themed 5K course and challenges with Josh Keane , Lynett McClay , and the legendary Bigfoot!
Free parking, free registration, and so close to home!
The course was a very hilly and well marked mix of road, trail, and mowed field with 4 family friendly challenges mixed in!
One water station approximately halfway and individual size snacks at the finish.
All participants get a Bigfoot card and sticker.
Looking forward to more events by Stark Parks!

Event Recap By Lynett McClay:

What a great morning for a run in Fry family park with a Bigfoot theme. The humidity was up slightly, but the sun was shining. This course featured road, trail, and grass areas, and was notably hilly. Four areas included Bigfoot-themed challenges. This untimed run was free, with complimentary parking, snacks, and stickers for all participants. This was a fun, casual race with my best friends.

Race Recap By Josh Keane:

The Scio Scramble was a fun 5k with a historic small town flare! This was the 40th year for this 5k and in all 40 years this 5k kicks off the Scio Fall Festival. Well organized and the local fire department supported the race with escort vehicles and directing traffic. Course was very flat, fast and paved. Volunteers were awesome. After the race there was an award ceremony in the fire station with beer and ice cream! Once that was over you could head outside and enjoy the fall festival before heading home. The weather was great and I actually felt really good on the course somehow pulling out a 3rd place finish in my age group. There was a bit of a drive in the country for about 45 minutes but well worth it and definitely a race we will consider in the future.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

Big turn out for this small town 5K!
I had a great time kicking off the Scio Summer Fest and participating in this 40 year anniversary race!
Easy directions, free parking close to the event, and organized packet pick up.
Gun start, chip finish for this flat and fast 5K out and back primarily on a running path.
Plenty of volunteers to keep you safe and a water station at approx miles 1 & 3.
$20 registration fee is a welcome surprise!
All runners get a SS cotton shirt, goody bag, ice cream, and beer!
Top 3 overall and age group winners earn a finishers medal! Pleased with my 8:46 pace and 1st place age group!
Fun festival after with live music, food trucks, vendors, and a beer garden!
I look forward to doing this one again!

Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

I ran the Scio Scramble 5k in Scio last night with teammates Lisa Keane and Josh Keane. There were many friendly faces from my local racing community there and the Scio summer festival added to the atmosphere and fun too! I finished 4th in my age group with a total time of 30:05 and pace of 9:42.

Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

Road Rokr 5K was a fun, energetic race benefiting the Miller South Instrumental Music Department. This was the first year that they did not have shirts/ medals with the Highland Square Theater. Instead they centered the shirts around one of the school’s designs. It was a hilly course through the neighborhoods in Highland Square. It was a new course with more brick roads. Shout-out to all the awesome volunteers and police officers who kept us safe! (They were constantly getting screamed at by folks who were upset the roads were closed.) I loved the medal, bibs and shirts! You could also stay after for free yoga. It’s a fun way to kick off PorchRockr
