Frostbite 5K Review.
No one was in danger of getting frostbite this year! The weather was great for a February run. It was around 30 sunny and very little wind during the race. The streets were clear of snow and ice making the course much faster than previous years. The course itself has a few rolling hills, but nothing extreme or too long. Most of the runners errored on the faster side of their predicted time because of the ideal race conditions. My predicted time was 24:19 which was my finish time from last year’s race. I finished in 22:52 which was 1:27 faster than my prediction. I knew when I was running I was too fast but my competitive nature just wouldn’t let me slow down. I was the 16th fastest runner but placed 94th. In the end I would rather be fast than predictable! 5k

Today I ran the Between The Portage Lakes 5k. I finished in 23:28. 2nd in my age group.
The posted times were slow due to the lack of a start map for the chip timing and actual corse distance of 3.3 – 3.4 miles. All in all a very good race.

Jerry & Sue Lynch from Life Center Plus not only put on a great event, but as they are well known for, helping a great cause. It was great to see a lot of support from the Life Center Members and staff on this worthwhile cause
It was the first cold morning of the year, with temps in low 30’s, some frost on ground, but predicted rain held off making it a perfect race morning. The course was a perfect 3.11 miles long, minimum turns and very organized.
I did not get the long warm up I planned for , and as any 5K, the first mile felt like a heart attack, and the cold air on the lungs added to the feel. I ended up 5th overall, first in my age group, with a 20:25.
Thanks to Josh Ritchie, for some great awards!
