Track Meet Recap By Christine Churpek:

PLX Adult Track Night was so much fun! I’m so proud of our team, The Dashing Divas, who killed it in the 4×100 & 4×400 relays!  I was so scared to race the 1600 in front of so many people, but it was freaking awesome and I crushed my sub 7:00 goal! Thanks PLX Run Club for putting on another great event! I can’t wait to do it all over again next year (maybe not 5 events though!

Race Recap By Rick Wise:

I had a great weekend centered around the Wilmington Whiteface 50K mountain bike race in Wilmington, NY (near Lake Placid)! The event was really well done with about 400 riders split between the 50k and 100k distances. It was awesome to spend the weekend with friend and teammate Asad Khan . We had some great home cooked food and enjoyed some amazing scenery while hiking, biking and swimming in the area. I was happy with my effort during the race. It was my first race anywhere near this length and I did pretty well. I took 10th in my age group. I had a fun sprint finish with a girl who was probably half my age! She nipped me at the end, but she deserved it. She had stronger legs at the end of the race.

Race Recap By George McFall:

My first HFP Racing Deer Creek Duathlon is in the books. I did the Olympic Duathlon. I started with a 5k run then transitioned to the bike for 25 miles then transitioned to finish up with a 10k run. I was really impressed with my transition times (2:19 and 2:25). 5k time was 21:51 (7:02 pace), Bike time was 1:26:15 (16.4 mph average) and I ran the 10k in 45:19 (7:18 pace). I shocked myself! I was so nervous before I started but that subsided, thankfully, when the run started. I had a good day. Everything clicked for me. I was so excited when I found out that I placed first in my age group and 9th overall in the Olympic Duathlon. The run and bike course was good. Well marked. The run course was an out and back for the 5k and we repeated the 5k course twice for the 10k. The bike course was 2 loops with a few climbs. We entered back into the park at the end of the second loop to get to the transition area. The forecast was calling for rain most of the morning but that held off until I was done with the race. Thanks to all of the volunteers and HFP Racing for putting on a great event. Can’t wait to my next one!! Also want to thank my friend Roy Miller for talking me into doing this with him. He did the Olympic Triathlon – swim, bike, run. And one more thank you to my friend Brad Hain was there as a spectator and snapped the great pics!.

Race Recap By Kristi Quesenberry Gunyula

I ran the Grand Tetons 1/2 Marathon yesterday.  The course was slightly challenging with a max elevation of 6,383 feet, but overwhelmingly beautiful. Possibly, the prettiest course ever. We ran over the Snake River, through scenic pastures, and finished with a stunning reveal of the Grand Teton mountain range and a picture-perfect finish line. I placed 2nd overall female masters and received a medal and national park pass for my award!

Race Recap By Kevin Christensen:

I volunteered at the 20th Annual Essentia Health Fargo Marathon in Fargo, North Dakota today. I usually try to volunteer if I’m not running so just walked up to the volunteer tent and said I’m from Ohio and here to help . I was given a shirt and an orange vest and assigned volunteer duties that included:
Gear check – taking in and organizing bags.
Setting up and unpacking bananas at the banana tables(bananas were too green for anyone to want)
Setting up the fruit chew snacks.
Back to gear check to give runners back their gear checked bags as they finished the 10K, half, and full marathon.
Gear check is a very busy job but we had help from the local Army ROTC.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

It was a perfect weekend for an Ultra! When you can’t run, volunteer!
I spent 2 days / 16 hours working at the main aid station and beer garden for the ultimate Eagle Up Ultra race!
This 24 hour endurance race is a heavily supported flat, fast 5 mile loop with the best aid stations you have ever seen! Perfect for your first ultra or for seasoned runners. Bring your friends or make new ones! A unique quality of this race is the ability to adjust your distance goal during the race (50K – 100 miles) Fantastic experience!
