Race Recap by Felicia Neal:
Event #48 and I attempted, with my full heart and strength, Tuscazoar Endurance 50 miler and dropped out at mile 45, according to my Garmin. I just couldn’t do the last 5 miles. The humidity was insane, I fell twice which did not help, I couldn’t drink or eat anything towards the end or get my breathing under control, the mud was so frustrating last few miles and it was taking an hour to go 2 miles. I got to a muddy hill and I just lost it started crying hyperventilating and just couldn’t finish. I am so chaffed it drew blood, I can not walk and I hurt so bad everywhere. This experience was very humbling and regardless of the pain and suffering I am overjoyed and proud of myself. I want to thank Alisha Fontana, she was my rock and kept me sorta sane. When I couldn’t go on she got me out. I am so very thankful for her. I probably would be passed out lost in the woods if it wasn’t for her. After all that I do not see a redemption, never again till next time.
Race Recap By Terri Bednar:
Saturday I ran the Tuscazoar Endurance Race put on by Race Brimstone. There was an option to do 25 or 50 miles. I chose 25. Packet pickup was easy and you could leave your stuff in the lodge. Parking was easy too. Food on course and at the end was great and the volunteers were so awesome! Course markings were a bit confusing and I missed a turn and added on. On top of that the course was long. Not sure how many miles I actually ran but my watch logged almost 33 in ultratrac mode. There were a lot of people getting lost out there. I don’t know what I would have done without Michele Nelson to get me through. Thanks Lady!!! There were many times we thought we were close to the finish but boy were we wrong! That was a very tough, hilly and technical course. I was mad about the extra miles at the time but I am sure I will do this race again.
Race Recap By Lori Fritz:
Today I volunteered at Kimble Hall for the Tuscazoar Endurance Race. What a great group of people who organize this event! I had little idea of what to expect, but soon had massive respect for the participants of this event! It was interesting to see and have brief conversations with the ones just passing through, as well as the ones who were finished.
Watching the ones who signed up for the night start was also interesting. As a roadrunner of shorter distance, I just show up and run. These people go prepared with a plan. And to do those kind of distances, one would definitely need a plan.
Ultra trail runners are a unique breed of their own. It was very enlightening to be part of their world even for just a few hours
