Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:

On Saturday, I completed the Bobcat Trail Marathon, a challenging yet rewarding trail running experience. The course had a total elevation gain of 3,478 feet, consisting mainly of single-track trails with some road sections. The weather was favorable, and the course was well-marked for easy navigation. There was ample parking available, and the aid stations were well-stocked with essential items to maintain runner hydration and provide snacks. Congratulations to all finishers, and commendation to Western Reserve Racing for organizing a successful event.

Race Recap By Lisa Keane:

Good communication, easy directions, and ample free parking near the start / finish.
This race is very remote and WIFI is sketchy!
Pro Tip – take some Dramamine and review your directions in advance!
Organized packet pick up.
Point to point race. Marathon starts / finishes at the lodge with a one way loop around the lake
Half starts at the marina and runs to the lodge with a free shuttle to take you back to your car
Course is well marked mostly single track trail with several creek crossings, all the rocks & roots, and So. Many. Hills!
Scenic fall foliage and lake views for miles – absolutely beautiful!
2 well stocked / spaced aid stations on course and one at the start / finish.
Indoor restrooms at both the lodge and marina
Nice Bobcat themed tee and matching finishers medal for all runners
Awards for overall and age group winners!
I worked super hard and could not be happier with my 2nd place age group finish!
I would definitely do this one again!

Race Recap By Lynett McClay:

It was a beautiful day to run a 1/2 marathon. The weather was perfect for an early morning run. This race was one of the toughest races I ever ran. This race consist of single track Trail, some road, wooden bridges ( that were slick from the rain the day before), rocks and roots and some mud. Packet pick was easy and had great directions. Plenty of parking for runners and family members to cheer their runners on. Indoor plumbing both at the marathon start and half marathon start. Half marathons started at Burr Oak Marina while marathon runners started at the Burr Oak Lodge. Aid stations were plentiful for every runners needs. The volunteers were very helpful ( even when I fell at the most buddies place of the whole race) . Even though my time was slower than last I managed to get 3rd in my age group. I will definitely run this race again!

Finish Time:  28:12

Overall Place:  56th Place / 172

Race Recap By Brittany Kiehl:

On any given day approximately 22 veterans commit suicide. This race brings awareness to veteran suicide prevention. They had a 22K, 11K, and 2.2 mile option as well as ruck categories. This year’s represented military branch was the U.S. Coast Guard which was reflected in the medal. Afterwards you could warm up inside the Foundry Restaurant & Event Center, where they had lots of hot appetizers and burgers from the Smash Burger food truck.
I felt so humbled running alongside so many veterans. Some were carrying flags, others were rucking and some ran in memory of those they lost. This race provided us an opportunity to teach our boys about showing gratitude and respect to those who sacrificed so much to keep our country safe. I’m so grateful for their bravery.

I completed the Towpath Freedom 5K at Summit Lake in Akron this morning! This event is always well organized and I appreciate how they recognize and honor the veterans before and after the race! The course doesn’t have much elevation and they always have tons of snacks and goodies as well as hot chocolate and coffee for before and after the race. I finished with a time of 28:46 with a pace of 9:15 and placed third in my age group! I was awarded a very nice red coffee cup with the words “Towpath Freedom 5K” on it with a flag and runners. Can’t wait to use it for work! Shirts are always made with great material and long sleeved! I definitely recommend this race to my fellow runners!

A beautiful fall race thru Alum Creek State Park on ROCKS & ROOTS TRAIL. Perfect weather, beautiful fall foliage, lake views, & rolling hills. The trail is accurately named & extra tricky w/ new leaf coverage!
Great price for an Ultra! $45 for any distance with a unique option to change distances mid race
Good communication, easy directions, organized packet pick up.
Ample free parking a short walk to the start / finish.
All distances start together on the 10K loop. Choose 10K, 20K, or 50k distance. The course was (mostly) well marked and moderately traveled however the loops alternate which was a little confusing.
Chip timing.
One aid station on course and one at the start / finish.
Love my Sasquatch themed shirt and matching finishers medal.
Happy with my pace and 1st place age group finish however no overall or age group awards.
Cozy fire pit and music at finish line was nice while waiting for friends to come in.
I look forward to doing this one again!

Race Recap By Nancy Wardell:

Ran the Run, Run Rudolph 5k in Cambridge today and discovered all the hills they have in town! I actually really enjoyed this race and wish I registered earlier to get one of the nice long sleeve shirts, but I’ll definitely sign up earlier next year! This race was very well organized and tons of cookies, bananas, granola bars and more at the finish line! The finisher medal was really nice too and the age group awards were beautiful glass trees made by a local famous glass company called “Mosser Glass”! I finished at a total time of 30:23 with a pace of 9:48 and 3rd in my age group! I was awarded a small glass tree which I love! I’m very excited to have placed since there were a lot of ladies in the 40-49 age group and the hills were no joke!! Another fun race in the books!

The race course was very scenic and mostly on the trails. I wish they would have utilized the indoor pavilion so people could stay warm. However, it was beautiful race weather today. I also think next year they should add a feature to be able to track runners, especially the ultra marathon folks. There were options for a 100K, 50K, 20 miler, 10 miler, or 5K.

Another half marathon is in the books! This is also the last long run before my last big race of the season. I’m so proud of myself for staying injury free (knocks on wood) and consistent with my training despite a lot of challenges (hello constant daycare sickness!). Anyway, what a race! What a year! What a haunted half! Next up: @plxrunningclub Loop the Lake 25K.
