I raced the April Fools 25K trail race this morning in the CVNP. While the temp and weather were just about perfect, the trail was only perfect if you were a pig, lucky for me, I like to get dirty! Lots of water and mud, and not just any mud, the type of mud that will not only suck your shoe off, but quite possibly suck your soul out as well. Maybe not your soul, but I stopped to re-tie my shoes to be safe. Within the first 200 yards everyone was wet as we had to cross a stream, in fact we had to cross many “streams” as the water was still draining from the rain the past few days. The race went about as well as I expected it, a little slower, but no surprises. Great course markings, great volunteers and overall a really good atmosphere. This is my longest run to date, I’m happy with my progress so far and looking forward to continuing to push the limits of what I thought my body could do. Finished 91/245, time to clean the shoes!FOO

FROSTBITE 5K PREDICTION RUN REVIEW (SCOTT)
Frostbite 5K Review.
No one was in danger of getting frostbite this year! The weather was great for a February run. It was around 30 sunny and very little wind during the race. The streets were clear of snow and ice making the course much faster than previous years. The course itself has a few rolling hills, but nothing extreme or too long. Most of the runners errored on the faster side of their predicted time because of the ideal race conditions. My predicted time was 24:19 which was my finish time from last year’s race. I finished in 22:52 which was 1:27 faster than my prediction. I knew when I was running I was too fast but my competitive nature just wouldn’t let me slow down. I was the 16th fastest runner but placed 94th. In the end I would rather be fast than predictable! 5k

Today I ran the Between The Portage Lakes 5k. I finished in 23:28. 2nd in my age group.
The posted times were slow due to the lack of a start map for the chip timing and actual corse distance of 3.3 – 3.4 miles. All in all a very good race.
