Race Recap By Lori Fritz:

I ran the Swiss Festival Cheese Chase 5K this morning! This course is very well marked and has great volunteers. The hills were challenging enough, but not what I would call horrible. I opted out of the T-shirt this year, but still received a cool goodie bag, that is a Dry Bag from NuCamp with a few goodies inside from MEB Systems who specialize in flat roofs. Everyone received a very nice finisher medal and I surprised myself with a 30:08 finish time–faster than my time two years ago! I ended up winning 1st in my age group! Not bad for an old lady just coming off an injury!
Another nice thing about the 5kK course was all the community support along the way! People were out on their porches and/or driveways and were cheering all of us on, not just their friends or relatives who were participating.
There were plenty of bananas and sweet treats at the finish, supplied by Swiss Village Bulk Foods. I might have to consider signing up for the 10K next year!
