Today I got to stand on the start line of my 30th marathon — the Wineglass Marathon — and for that alone I’m grateful. A hip injury stole several key training weeks and made this build tougher than I expected. But I showed up with confidence, held an 8:00‑ish pace through 20 miles, and fought all the way to the finish.
I crossed in 3:38:16, 20th in my age group, 700th overall out of more than 2,300 runners. Not perfect, not easy — but absolutely something I’m proud of.
A big thank you to my running coach Jennifer Simmerman for your continued support and words of encouragement through this challenging build. Today was a win.
More on the overall race experience later. Right now it’s time to eat, get a celebratory drink or two and explore more of the area.
