Race Recap By John Fabianich McClay:
On Saturday, I completed the Bobcat Trail Marathon, a challenging yet rewarding trail running experience. The course had a total elevation gain of 3,478 feet, consisting mainly of single-track trails with some road sections. The weather was favorable, and the course was well-marked for easy navigation. There was ample parking available, and the aid stations were well-stocked with essential items to maintain runner hydration and provide snacks. Congratulations to all finishers, and commendation to Western Reserve Racing for organizing a successful event.

Bobcat Marathon & Half Marathon
Good communication, easy directions, and ample free parking near the start / finish.
This race is very remote and WIFI is sketchy!
Pro Tip – take some Dramamine and review your directions in advance!
Organized packet pick up.
Point to point race. Marathon starts / finishes at the lodge with a one way loop around the lake
Half starts at the marina and runs to the lodge with a free shuttle to take you back to your car
Course is well marked mostly single track trail with several creek crossings, all the rocks & roots, and So. Many. Hills!
Scenic fall foliage and lake views for miles – absolutely beautiful!
2 well stocked / spaced aid stations on course and one at the start / finish.
Indoor restrooms at both the lodge and marina
Nice Bobcat themed tee and matching finishers medal for all runners
Awards for overall and age group winners!
I worked super hard and could not be happier with my 2nd place age group finish!
I would definitely do this one again!
Race Recap By Lynett McClay:
It was a beautiful day to run a 1/2 marathon. The weather was perfect for an early morning run. This race was one of the toughest races I ever ran. This race consist of single track Trail, some road, wooden bridges ( that were slick from the rain the day before), rocks and roots and some mud. Packet pick was easy and had great directions. Plenty of parking for runners and family members to cheer their runners on. Indoor plumbing both at the marathon start and half marathon start. Half marathons started at Burr Oak Marina while marathon runners started at the Burr Oak Lodge. Aid stations were plentiful for every runners needs. The volunteers were very helpful ( even when I fell at the most buddies place of the whole race) . Even though my time was slower than last I managed to get 3rd in my age group. I will definitely run this race again!
